Pneumo-Cosmic MS
Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks No. 30 (MS Ferguson 115)
This remarkable late 18th-century manuscript in the Ferguson collection is an enigmatic and captivating work. It contains no text but consists of a series of 52 circular coloured drawings. These illustrations appear to depict the cosmos emerging from chaos. Many of the images show interior worlds, with some featuring small animal and human forms, winged angelic figures, and depictions of Mercurius. A work like this may never be fully understood; instead, it should be appreciated as an alchemical artwork for the way it conveys its message. It is one of the treasures of later alchemy, with origins as mysterious as its subject matter.
