Ian G. Lamont
Ian G. Lamont is a born and bred Kiwi,now living in North Northumberland in the United Kingdom.He lives by himself,never married, but retains a unique friendship with his long-time best friend, Audrey, and her family, including the Border Collies,Gem and Kate.Ian is a consultant civil engineer by profession, specialising in the design and construction of new railways,his last major project was in South Australia. He’s now semi-retired and enjoys the freedom (subject to Covid)of ‘doing his own thing’, which includes a strong passion for the principles of Freemasonry. His intense interest in this subject saw him obtain a degree from the Open University. This was later followed up by studies at Durham University and his obtaining a Master of Arts in Theological Research in 2003.Ian has experienced and witnessed virtually all aspects of Freemasonry and can thus speak authoritatively on the subject matter, which many masons and non-masons alike are hardly aware of.Ian is a Freeman of the City of London and still takes an active interest in the proceedings associated with the ‘Square Mile’. His hobbies,apart from the usual D.I.Y around the home, include precious gem hunting in Colombia, Sri-Lanka and Myanmar,astrophotography and the photography of ancient classical Greek and Roman architecture. Not forgetting of course to exercise those collies on a daily basis.
